How do I become a member of ESBC?

There are two prerequisites that everyone who desires to become a part of ESBC must meet:

1) A person desiring membership must have made a profession of faith in Jesus Christ.  He or she must have repented of sin, confessed faith in Christ, and committed to a life of following Christ.

2) A person desiring membership must have experienced Biblical baptism.  That means that he or she must have been:

    a. Baptized by immersion
    b. Baptized after coming to faith in Christ
    c. Baptized as an act of obedience
    d. Baptized by a church of like faith and order

To become a member of ESBC, you should come forward during the invitation of a worship service and share with a pastor your desire to become a part of ESBC.

- If you are making a profession of faith in Christ for the first time, you can become a member of ESBC by being baptized and by completing the new members’ class.

- If you have previously made a profession of faith but have not experience baptism according to the criteria listed above, you can become a member of ESBC by being baptized and by completing the new members’ class.

- If you have already made a profession of faith and have previously been baptized in a church of like faith and order, you can become a member of ESBC by transfer of letter and by completing the new members’ class.

- If you have already made a profession of faith and have previously been baptized in a church of like faith and order but where it is not possible to obtain a letter of transfer, you can become a member of ESBC by statement of faith and by completing the new members’ class.

Why do I have to complete a new members’ class?

It is our desire to help everyone who desires to become a part of ESBC to understand exactly what is expected once he or she becomes a church member.  The best way to do this is through the new member class that has been strategically developed to introduce individuals to ESBC.

Can I become a member of ESBC without completing the new members’ class?

No.  All individuals desiring to become a part of ESBC must complete the new members’ class.

Does ESBC provide watch care membership?

Yes.  Believers who wish to enter into the love and fellowship of the church and will support the objectives of the church but cannot qualify, or choose not to qualify, for membership will be designated as coming under the “watch care” of the church.  These Christians are free to participate in all the life and love of the church, except for voting and for holding elected positions.
