The volunteers at East Side understands that children are gifts from God. Our Children’s staff is dedicated to sharing Jesus and the truths from God’s Word with children. We believe that now, more than ever, children need a solid foundation on which to build their lives. The life built on the foundation of this world will collapse when the storms of life come. Our goal is to help children build on Jesus Christ: the sure foundation.

Sunday School
The Children’s Department offers graded Bible classes for children from birth through 6th grade. These classes are taught by loving adults who work and study hard to provide quality Bible studies for your children.

Bible Drill

Bible Drill helps children hide God’s Word in their hearts.  Bible Drill is made up of three cycles of verses and key passages.  Children who are 4th, 5th, and 6th graders are eligible to participate in Bible Drill.

The purpose of the drill is to help children:

· increase in knowledge of the Bible

· develop skills in locating Bible books and key passages

· memorize the names of the books of the Bible in order plus selected Bible
  verses and key passages

· learn how to apply the Bible to their lives.

AWANA
“Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed” - 2 Timothy 2:15
The AWANA program meets every Sunday evening during the school year and is for children 4 years old through 6th grade.
Sunday evenings consist of 3 activity times that keep kids coming back week after week:

Game Time
A variety of age-appropriate organized games are played in the gymnasium each week.

Large Group
Each week, a speaker delivers a Bible lesson and shares the Gospel.

Handbook Time
Children receive a handbook for their specific grade that includes memory verses and activities. Prizes awarded for the completion of each section give children an added incentive to work hard at learning the material.

Summer Camp
Each summer, the 3rd through 6th grade spend a week at Camp. Camp has proven to be a life-changing experience for many children. The week is packed with exciting worship, challenging Bible studies and team-building recreation.
